MEET THE QUILTER

About Acela Troffer

I feel a strong connection to preserving memories; small, intense, and everywhere in between. Some memories are just fun, funny, and goofy things in life. Others may be pivotal in our lives or milestones, such as high school graduations, retirements, etc. I believe many material things turn into a sensory trigger point of memory.

I am firmly committed to providing personalized service and welcome unusual requests. I understand the shirts are special to you, and I treat them as special as well.

I use my technical background and creative nature to develop each quilt layout, ultimately creating a quilt that is uniquely yours.

Experience

I am an engineer by schooling. I retired from my 35-year career (30 of them with Disney) in June of 2020. I started sewing at a very young age on my mother’s side. My Ken and Barbie had a very impressive wardrobe. I have been quilting since 2001. I am a self-taught quilter and am continually stretching myself with new techniques and reinforcing existing abilities.

Style

I personally love modern and contemporary designs. For my personal work, I create my own patterns. I am always working on several projects with a few more in my head.

Family

I live in Windermere, Florida, with my husband, Tom. We have three children, all three in the early stages of self-sustainment and adulthood. Tom is always there to encourage me and be an excellent second opinion and enjoy talking with the gals at the quilt shops.

Philosphy

Quilts should be loved, used, and used up! I would prefer to see a quilt needing mending than a quilt that is coveted as an heirloom. Although I challenge you to accomplish both. When taking a break, you will always find me snuggling up on the couch with a quilt. T-shirt quilts preserve memories, warm hearts, and provide that sense of comfort.

In My Spare Time

I enjoy scrapbooking, the outdoors, and reading in my garden. My husband and I often camp in our home state of Florida. Camping affords us the time to decompress. We also enjoy spending time with our kids, biking, and traveling.

You will be informed of how many shirts you need for the size and style you are selecting.
Fill out the form noting critical dates and preferences.
Submit your estimate request. (Submitting a request does not commit you to purchase.)

RECEIVE Estimate

Receive estimate and instructions on handling shirts

Prepare Your SHIRTS

Follow instructions on handling shirts

Wash and dry ALL shirts, especially new red and black shirts.
Mend any holes or rips, address stains.
Using painter’s tape or other removable tapes such as washi tape, mark all designs you DO WANT to include.
Write any special instructions on the tape for that shirt or safety pin a note on it.
If a partial design is to be included, outline the specific portion for inclusion.
